Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting on Monday was big with a small group of people because of illness and other business that was a priority. However, we took care of some important business, fellowship and ate Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner all in one.
We did this because our next meeting won’t be until February. We meet every other month now. Please make notice. IF there is a change, you will be notified.
Deputy Middlebrooks updated the sheriff’s report and passed out the “Sheriff’s Star of Coosa County,” which has some good reading and information to be aware of. If you like to be in the know, come to your Neighborhood Watch meeting.
The Sheriff’s Office supports all of them, and we are very grateful. Our former sheriff, Terry Wilson, and wife, Ran, still support Union Square’s meetings in every way. During eating times Ran brings some of the best dessert of all time.
President Johnny Schmidt is still doing a great job, as well as the other leaders, so we are keeping our same leaders. The year is about to end, and since we won’t have a meeting in January we did the election at this meeting.
I don’t want to seem like I am bragging, but we have the best leaders and followers in Union Square. Thank God we have wonderful people in the neighborhood. We stick together and do many things for our neighbors and other communities, as well.
We honored two special (deceased) Union Square faithful members who just recently passed with a donation to their church, Mr. Aaron Riggins and Mrs. Pat Windsor. We also donated to DHR and Union Square homebound neighbors with gift bags.
Everyone is invited to Christmas in the Grove Open House on Sunday, December 8 from 1-3 p.m. at the J.D. Thompson Alumni Building. This event includes an old-fashioned Christmas tree decorating, singing, prizes, and refreshments. Churches, please bring an ornament for the tree. Thank you in advance.
My heart is hurting. I just lost another loved one, my niece Carrie Bea Brown Tuck. Please pray for me and the family, especially her son, Tee.
I wish all December babies a happy birthday.
