Pastor LaJerrell Hill and Lady Bridget Hill at his first pastoral anniversary celebration.

Pastor LaJerrell and Lady Bridget Hill with their family for the celebration.

Our prayers and condolences go to the family of Mrs. Ida Hosea. We all will miss that powerful voice of hers, my best friend, Elsie Riggins’ sister. We love you, Ida.
Some people might say I write and brag about my families too much. Well in reality one half of Rockford and the community I write about are my families and also Talladega and Tallapoosa counties, I have many who live in those counties. I have a huge family in Alabama, and I love them dearly!
So when I write about the Union Square News, my family and church family are included in most of my columns. So please don’t get offended when that’s all I have to talk about.
Here again I am talking about my family. I have a great-nephew, Zavion Abston, number 6, who plays football for Coosa Central, and he helped the Cougars take an important big win over LaFayette 48-35 last Friday night. It was the last game of the season.
Coosa’s coach Daniel Flowers has done a super job with his boys this season. He is a fighter who never gives up. Bravo to him and his boys!
I attended a great service on Sunday afternoon where my great-nephew Pastor LaJerrell Hill and family celebrated his first pastoral anniversary, “Rooted in Faith. Growing in Grace.” My great-nephew Pastor Tremayne Benson of Friendship Baptist Church in Mobile was the guest speaker, and he spoke with the anointed of the Holy Ghost! Wow!
He preached from Psalm 66:16. “I am Evidence” was his subject, and this young man of God proved evidence, even with his singing and the Word of God.
Benson said when God brings you out of something you need to come out with your mouth open; shout, praise God and have a testimony.
How in the world can people sit on God with their mouth closed when He has done things for them? They can’t even say “Thank you.” It is a shame and a disgrace how some people just sit on God, like He is a nobody.
People who cannot talk praise God with their hands, and people in wheelchairs praise God with an open mouth and hands up in the air to God. Little Benson’s mother is in a wheelchair; however, she never stops praising God with her open mouth, hands up and smiling like God is still doing things for her, and He is.
He keeps His hands on her and her family. Lady Benson is a wonderful lady of God.
It was a great great celebration, great service and great food. Pastor Hill and his family looked so lovely, and they are five lovely people. I thank God that they are in my family. I am older is why I said that (smile).
