David Lewis Powell

 

David Lewis Powell passed on August 25, 2026, at the age of 66. Born August 25, 1960, in Union Springs, Ala., David lived in Rockford.

David is survived by his daughters, Breanna Powell and Erica Powell (Daniel); his sisters, Debra Powell and Jenny Renfroe; his grandchildren, Rayna Maglione, Karlee Whetstone, Jordan Whetstone, Bryan Stanton, and Dakota Whetstone; his aunt, Deborah Hethcox; his nephew, Will Schmidbauer; and his nieces, Rachel Schmidbauer, Mahaley Killingsworth, and Mckenley Renfroe.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Hatfield; his mother, Marjorie Hatfield; his father, Bill Powell; and his wife, Brenda Powell.

The funeral was held at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, Sylacauga, on August 29, 2026. Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, is the final resting place.

 

Eric Paul Robbins

 

Funeral service for Mr. Eric Paul Robbins, 52, of Equality, will be Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Equality Methodist Church. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Equality Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Eric Paul Robbins, known to many simply as Eric, passed away on September 1, 2026, in Equality, at the age of 52.
Eric was born on December 26, 1973, in Alexander City to Paul Robbins and Nancy Granger Robbins, and he carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life. He was a Christian man, and he lived in a way that reflected kindness, humility, and strength. Those who knew Eric will remember him as a friendly, funny, and intelligent man who had a gift for making others feel comfortable and welcome. His easygoing nature and warm sense of humor left a lasting impression on family and friends alike. He was a member of Equality Methodist Church.
Eric found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He loved hunting and fishing, and he especially loved being on the water, where he could enjoy the peace and beauty of the outdoors. He also enjoyed piddling and working with wood, spending time on projects that allowed him to use his hands and his mind. Alabama football was another passion of his, and he took great pride in cheering on his team. These interests were more than hobbies to Eric. They were part of the life he loved and the memories he created with the people around him.
Family meant everything to Eric, and he treasured the relationships he shared with those closest to him. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Holman of Equality, Ala.; his son, Paul Robbins and his wife Amy; his grandson, Wyatt Robbins; his daughter, Anna McLean; his sister, Summer Robbins Holman; his niece, Kaitlin Davis and her husband Tad; his niece, Darah Holman; his great-niece, Madison Davis; and his great-nephew, Memphis Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Robbins. The love he had for his family was evident in the way he lived, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Eric will be remembered for the laughter he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those around him. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, whether he was spending time outdoors, working on something with his hands, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends. His personality was a blend of humor, intelligence, and sincerity, and that combination made him someone people naturally trusted and enjoyed being around.
Though his passing leaves a great emptiness, Eric’s life remains a source of comfort and gratitude to those who loved him. The memories he leaves behind are filled with love, laughter, and the quiet strength of a life well lived. His family and friends will continue to carry him in their hearts, remembering the many ways he made life brighter and more meaningful.
Eric Paul Robbins will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thomas Yarbrough

 

Funeral service for Mr. Thomas Junior Yarbrough, 83, of Goodwater, was Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Don Ward officiated. Burial followed in the Russell Farm Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Yarbrough passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at his residence. He was born on April 29, 1943, in Tallapoosa County, Ala., to James Vernon Yarbrough and Rosie Lee Johnson Yarbrough.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Wayne Yarbrough; and his brother, Charles Edward Yarbrough.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ruth Yarbrough; parents; brothers, Donald Russell Yarbrough, Robert Earl Yarbrough; and sister, Glenda Nell Yarbrough.
