A Conservation in Coosa County event for Coosa County Landowners will be held on Thursday, September 10, at the Old Rockford School. Agriculture, conservation, forestry, and wildlife agencies will be available to provide information about programs and services they offer. September 10 & 19
Providence Baptist Church’s 3rd Annual Bass Tournament will be held Sept. 19. Registration that day begins at 4 a.m. with put in at safe daylight at Barrett’s Landing on Lake Mitchell. You may pre-register by mail by September 10 by mailing a check payable to the church (P.O. Box 65; Rockford, AL 35136) or by scanning the QR code on the flyers. Entry fee is $110 per boat, which includes big fish payout. Guaranteed $1,000 first place. Payout will be 1-in-7 after 10 boats (all proceeds to be paid out in winnings). September 12
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is hosting a Wild Pig Workshop at the Weogufka Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attend this workshop for informative sessions on trapping wild pigs, breaking down a pig carcass, growing herbs that pair well with pork and safely preparing pork. Now FREE for everyone! Children’s activities available. Registration required. They plan to have some wild boar for attendees to sample, so it is important for people to register so they know how many to expect. The monthly meeting for Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District will be on Monday, September 21, at 10 a.m. at the District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157 in Hanover.
October 1-3
Sylacauga, Marble Valley Volunteer Fire Department is now accepting donations for our 13th Annual Open House / Yard Sale Fundraising Event, which will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 1-3 (rain or shine), at 2373 Coosa County Road 5, Sylacauga (also known as Marble Valley Road). Sale runs 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to donate items for our sale please call 256-249-4996 or 256-404-2057 to schedule a pickup or drop off time. All donations are 100% tax deductible. We hope to see you all at the sale!
October 10
CAEC and Central Access will host a benefit fishing tournament with all proceeds going to the CAEC Lineman Scholarship Fund. The fishing tournament will be held Saturday, October 10, on Lake Mitchell at Higgins Ferry from safe daylight until 3 p.m. Guaranteed first prize of $2,500. First through fifth places paid. Registration information will be coming soon. The CAEC Lineman Scholarship Fund provides opportunities for future line workers to join the men and women already serving our communities.
Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The “Old Rock Jail” in Rockford is once again open for tours each Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. until the end of June, except for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Memorial Day weekend. It will be closed the months of July and August and will reopen in September, the Sunday after Labor Day, until the end of October. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children under 12.
Monthly
Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $8 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE!
