Equality & Nixburg News
Jennifer Williamson
How often do you think about community angels? Probably not until they are gone. Some do more often, but generally they are just taken for granted.
Frank Bryant is one of these community angels, and it was nice to see the community come out to celebrate Frank Bryant last weekend. It was titled a retirement party; however, I don’t believe Frank was ready to retire, so I went to celebrate the man, the neighbor, the beloved mail carrier this community was blessed with.
I could tell stories of his kindness, his fearlessness of guard geese, his giving of his time unselfishly, as can so many others in our community. I pray miracles for him and his family because they deserve them.
Another community angel that many of us love and adore is Robby Dial, and he has been a bit under the weather, so say some prayers for him, as well. I know many miss him as I have received phone calls at the store asking if he was OK.
He has not been on Highway 9 waving at folks and asking for horns to be honked for a time while he is healing. I also miss him coming in to tell me if the mail carrier stopped at my box or just drove on past, which is his little way of caring for me.
When the performing arts center has a performance, he shows up early to help set up tables and taste test the coffee to make sure I made it right. He stays in the back enjoying the music and opens and holds the doors for everyone that comes in. His presence is always a joy, and his help is always appreciated. We never ask; he always offers, and I can’t wait to wave and honk for him again soon.
These quiet community members are more impactful on our lives than most realize until they are no longer showing up every day. Be mindful, pray for them, and appreciate them, and be blessed by them every day because I truly feel they are angels among us.
This month’s Neighborhood Watch meeting is on Thursday, August 27, starting at 6:30 p.m. with a meal provided so please join in for the community gathering, sheriff’s report and other local news.
