On July 23, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed that the State Bureau of Investigation is conducting a death investigation stemming from a month ago.
On Tuesday, June 30, at the request of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, special agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation launched a death investigation involving an inmate at the Chilton County Detention Facility.
Inmate Brittney Grier, 37, was found unresponsive in the holding cell. Grier’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will
be turned over to the Chilton County District Attorney’s Office.
