Family and friends filled Keith Bullard Stadium Tuesday evening for the class of 2026 commencement ceremony as the seniors were joined on the field by Board of Education members, administration and faculty.
The Student Government Association president Meori Smith opened the ceremony by leading the attendees in the “Pledge of Allegiance,” and Matt Stevens sang the national anthem.
Assistant principal, Dr. Andy Watson, welcomed the attendees and applauded the work of the graduates and the promise they embodied.
Speeches by salutatorian, Emma Jones, and valedictorian, Katie Meeks, took their classmates down memory lane and inspired them to keep achieving while thanking their families, as well as the staff at Central Coosa, for guiding them on their journey.
Counselor Misty Wade shared the recognition of achievement, including three Central graduates who will be serving their country in the Air Force and National Guard.
Mrs. Wade then announced the graduates as principal Brandi Lee awarded the seniors their diplomas with assistant principal Dr. Watson and Superintendent of Education David Stover congratulating the students in the receiving line.
Principal Lee conferred the diplomas then instructed the seniors to turn their tassels to signify they were graduates and celebrate their achievement by tossing their caps.
The seniors closed out the ceremony by coming together one last time to sing the Central High School Alma Mater. “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar” spirit filled the stadium as the attendees joined the seniors in singing the Alma Mater.
Thank you to the Pride of Coosa County band who performed “Pomp and Circumstance” and the Alma Mater under the direction of Daryl Ingram.
Congratulations to our 2026 graduates; we look forward to your continued achievements. Thank you to PTO president Maressa Ware for pictures.
