Equality & Nixburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, with lots of productivity on my own stuff rather than on others’ stuff, which was very satisfying, although I do miss being with my children and grandchildren as I had to cancel our annual family trip because I need the funds to go to replacing the store roof.
Perhaps later in the summer we can get together for a weekend and then next year we do a big family trip like we have done in the past. One day I hope we all live closer so we can spend more time together and not just wait for an annual gathering.
I also spent time maintaining and cleaning up the property around Jenny’s General Store. Soon the new roof will be put in, and more work on the property will happen. I am hoping to add a new service later this year, but need a new phone for the store, and after changing internet providers we have not had an outage, not even during the storms. With a battery backup we still had service when the power did go out. So, thinking the store will get a low-cost cell phone which can make and receive calls over internet.
Sequel Campbell of 3 Moon Harvest is holding Certified Family Herbalist Classes, one Saturday each month from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a half hour break. Those that attend all seven courses will receive certification.
First course is on May 23 at Jenny’s General Store and will focus on herbs best for the digestive system. Class size is small, so if interested register and pay $60 course fee by May 20.
Please get out on Tuesday, May 19, and vote in the primary elections. Many say do your civic duty, or your legal obligation as a citizen. I say this is a privilege that many in the world are not offered, so not voting is saying you really don’t care what our government does, whether local, state, or federal. Please go vote because it matters.
Equality Volunteer Fire Department is holding a Memorial Day Fundraiser Boston Butts and Rib Sale. A rack of St Louis ribs is $35 or a Boston Butt for $35.
