A report of a potential wreck resulted in the arrest of a Clanton man for drunk driving.
On April 5, Deputy Kelley responded to the Richville area for a possible motor vehicle accident. Upon his arrival to the area, he saw an individual close to Sardis Church.
He proceeded to make conduct with the individual, who advised Kelley that he was drunk. Kelley asked the man where his vehicle was, and he was unable to provide an exact location, only that it was about two miles north of Sardis.
While talking with the individual, Kelley detected the scent of alcohol and observed that his eyes were bloodshot. The man refused to do any field sobriety tests.
Ultimately the man, 20-year-old London Coker Short of Clanton, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
While driving back to the Coosa County Jail with Short, Kelley saw the vehicle that was called in for a possible motor vehicle accident. He confirmed that the vehicle did belong to Short.
Short’s bond was set at $2,000. He was released on bond later the same day to await trial.
