The Central Cougar baseball program celebrated their seniors at their season closing game last Tuesday.
The pre-game ceremony started by recognizing the senior press box operator Caden Miller, who has volunteered with the Cougar baseball program for four years. Caden will be attending Jefferson State to earn his lineman certification.
We then recognized our senior Diamond Doll volunteers who run the ticket booth and concession stand.
Izabella Halsey has served as a Diamond Doll for one year and will be attending the University of North Alabama to major in secondary education.
Leiera Wright has also served as a Diamond Doll for one year and will be attending the University of Montevallo to major in graphic design.
The 2026 Head Diamond Doll was Aniya Horton, who has served for three years and will be attending Samford University to major in pharmacy.
The ceremony concluded by recognizing our senior baseball player, Bryant Wickersham, who has played Cougar baseball for three years and will be pursuing a certification in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) with the goal of opening his own HVAC business.
Head Coach Clay Shearer and assistant coach Daryl Ingram presented shadow boxes to the seniors as a memento of their time with the Cougar baseball program.
Central High School Assistant Principal Dr. Andy Watson, Athletic Director Debbie Phillips and Superintendent of Education David Stover were on hand to celebrate with the students.
It was a night of joy, memories and tears as we celebrated our students’ service and dedication to the Cougar baseball program, as well as their academic achievements. Cougar Pride! Pictures courtesy of Ashley Humphrey.
