Following a wreck that tragically claimed the life of a 19 year old from Millbrook, there has been an outpouring of love and support as donations have poured in for his family via a GoFundMe campaign.
The GoFundMe was created following the death of 19-year-old Keith Young, who died in a wreck on U.S. Highway 231 in Rockford in the early morning hours of March 31.
Friends and family remember the Millbrook native as full of life, known for his kindness, humor and the energy and light he brought to this around him, making his sudden loss especially devastating for his loved ones.
Organized by Margie Hutto of Millbrook, the fundraiser proceeds will go directly toward funeral expenses, with Young’s mother, Ashley Palmer, noted as being the beneficiary.
In the GoFundMe description, Hutto said of Young, “He was the kind of person who could make anyone smile, and his kindness touched so many people in our community. Whether he was helping his peers, making friends laugh, or simply being there for his family and friends, Keith’s presence was a gift to everyone who knew him.”
Hutto stated that Young’s loss in the tragic car wreck has “left a hole in so many hearts,” saying that her best friend and her family are facing “unimaginable grief,” as well as “the financial burden of funeral expenses.”
Hutto stated that the GoFundMe was created to help ease some of that burden so that Young’s family can “focus on healing and remembering Keith without the added stress of costs they never expected to face.”
As of press time, the fundraising campaign had reached 92% of its goal, with $9,113 raised of the $10,000 goal with 164 donations made.
Hutto noted, “No parent should have to face this alone. If you’re able to donate, share, or keep them in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much. Every bit of support helps honor Keith’s life and supports the family he loved so deeply. Thank you for standing with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
