The Sheriff’s Office is continuing in its efforts to crackdown on drug-related crimes as it conducted another drug bust late last month, resulting in the arrest of a Goodwater man.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on March 25 Sgt. Ward and the Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the Goodwater community as the result of a narcotics investigation.
That investigation culminated in the arrest of 40-year-old Javarse Dontrell Williams, who faced 12 charges total.
Williams was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, attempting to elude law enforcement officers, possession of drug paraphernalia, and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.
Leading up to this, Williams was additionally arrested for two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance related to the ongoing narcotics investigation.
Williams was also arrested on failure-to-appear warrants for child support, improper lights, driving while revoked, and failure to display insurance.
Williams’ total bond for all charges was set at $50,900. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who sees or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
