An Alexander City woman and man were arrested last Thursday in connection to theft from a store in the Equality community.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on March 25, the manager of Quality Food Mart in Equality called the Sheriff’s Office to report that she saw two individuals enter the store while the clerk was distracted.
While the employee was distracted, the individuals reportedly took a money bag from underneath the counter.
In reviewing the video footage, the female was identified as a former employee who had recently asked for her job back. After further investigation, law enforcement officers determined who the two individuals were.
On March 26, 38-year-old Jennifer Ann Kelly and 34-year-old James Danielle Tucker were arrested. They were both charged with second-degree theft of property.
Each of their bonds was set at $10,000. As of press time both remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
