Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Happy birthday to all the March babies, including my oldest granddaughter! How time flies; doesn’t seem that long ago that she was born, and now she’s a mom of one and expecting another in June.
This starts the week of spring break for Coosa County schools. Providence Baptist Church will be hosting a “Kid’s Night Out” tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. All ages are welcome to come eat and have fun! This is a quarterly event that is open to all kids. You don’t have to attend Providence to come out and join in the fun.
The next Richville Volunteer Fire Department Bingo will be on Saturday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. So come out and support your fire department and have fun doing it. They will also have concessions.
The Turkey Shoot at Kelly’s Crossroads was a great success with great participation. They are planning another in the near future, so stay tuned for information.
April 15 will be here before you know it, so take advantage of the free service that Volunteer Connections of Central Alabama (VCCA) offers in Rockford on Wednesdays at the fellowship hall of Rockford Methodist Church.
This is only a drop-off and pick-up site; no returns are done at that location. No appointment is necessary. They will be there every Wednesday with April 8 the last day for pick-ups. We will only take drop-offs that day if you can pick-up in the Alexander City office.
Trying to get used to the time change. Love the late sunsets, but not liking the dark when I get up in the morning.
It’s been in the news again to do a permanent change so no more “fall back” or “spring forward.” The only thing is deciding how to do it! Some want to just do away with daylight savings time completely while others want to do a half time solution. I just want no more time change, period.
This week my Bible verse is about new beginnings. Ephesians 4:22-24 reads, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Regardless of the time of year, we can make new resolutions to follow Christ more closely, therefore moving forward with hope.
Often, we experience conflicts within ourselves and sometimes make the wrong decision. We can’t let that worry us because these verses tell us to turn from whatever is negative and focus on being more God-like in our decisions.
The only way to start is with prayer and reading our Bibles. Reading our Bibles brings us closer to God and helps us push away our deceitful desires to transform us into a better person. We have to look inside and forgive ourselves so we can find a “new beginning” in our lives.
Be in prayer for those that have lost loved ones in our community, as well as those that are ill. Remember the shut-ins in our community, as well. They don’t just need our prayers, but can benefit from visits, also, even if it’s just a phone call.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
