A Georgia man was arrested for marijuana and a related charge following a traffic stop.
On February 8, Deputy Kelley was on patrol on U.S. Highway 231 when he observed a vehicle with a minor traffic violation and initiated a traffic stop.
As he approached the vehicle, Kelley detected the odor of what seemed to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputy Brown also arrived on the scene for backup.
Deputies asked the driver to step out for a probable cause search of the vehicle. Kelley conducted the search while Brown detained the driver.
Kelley found a container of a green leafy substance in the vehicle and also retrieved paraphernalia containing residue and marijuana.
The driver, 21-year-old Andrew Noah Fowler of Calhoun, Ga., was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
Fowler’s bond was set at $7,500, and he was released on bond on February 9 to await trial.
