Equality & Nixburg News
Jennifer Williamson
OK, thinking maybe I need to back off on writing community columns because a second week in a row I started writing my political opinion instead of about the nothing that really happens in Equality and Nixburg other than the happenings at my homestead. I will just say that I want an invested community member representing me; my vote doesn’t get cast for someone who lives, works, attends church, or volunteers elsewhere.
We have had some nice weather lately, and I was able to mend one of our fences. Trying to make it a bit more horse proof as she leans on it and pretends to graze on the grass on the other side, when really she is just pushing the fence down until she can step over it.
It was a bit dangerous as it was on the front along the county road. The county road that is supposed to be 45 miles an hour, yet folks with Elmore tags are in such a hurry they are doing 55 even though in a quarter mile there are a dozen homes and two bus stops. The speed limit really does need to be 35, but I was shot down by the last “representative” for this district.
Zurie, our Pyrenees livestock dog, is still hanging out near the Equality Volunteer Fire Department, and I am thinking she is guarding something over there. I saw a neighbor do some yard cleanup, and what caught my eye was an orange cat watching him work, and just behind the orange cat was what I assume was a white cat just inside the tree line.
If there are kittens in the woods between the field and fire department, then I would assume Zurie is their guardian. Still hoping with the upcoming new addition to the farm Zurie will stay home, but I may have to wait until whatever she is guarding is grown.
