During the month of December, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office continued its annual tradition of Shop with the Sheriff.
This event was started in order to help Coosa County children and their families during Christmas. During the months of November and December, Coosa County families can call, send an email, or stop by the Sheriff’s Office and leave their name or the name of a family in need, the number of children and their ages, and a brief overview of why extra help is needed or wanted.
Sheriff Michael Howell then reviews all requests and selects families to help with Christmas. Because of the kindness and generosity of numerous donors, Sheriff Howell, Jennifer Tindall, Xochitl Blakely, and Coosa Central School Resource Officer Trenton Davenport were able to meet several children from different families and shop for Christmas. We think the sheriff and his staff had more fun than the kids!
“I am overwhelmed with all the support we received this year,” Sheriff Howell stated. “Through donations received from the public, we were able to bless 32 children from Coosa County this Christmas. That is more children than ever before thanks to our generous community and surrounding areas. I would like to personally thank each and every person who donated. Without you and your support, this event would not have been possible. Thank you all for your generosity during Christmas.”
Donors for this highly successful 2025 Shop with the Sheriff were: Union Square Neighborhood Watch, R&R Homes, Rockford Senior Center, Jimmy Reynolds, Jeff and Carol Mullendore, David Sr. and Waltraud Stover, David Jr. and Debi Stover, Roger and Judy Wilder, Johnnie and Robin Schmidt, John and Lilliam Lynch, James Gibson, James and Avie Bridgman, Thomas and Janet Pody, Radney Smith Funeral Home – Sylacauga, Radney Langley Funeral Home – Alexander City, Five Star Preserve LLC., and Friendship Community Church.
Thanks again for your kindness and generosity this Christmas season!
