On Saturday, September 20, a contraband incident was reported at Easterling Correctional Facility.
Correctional Officer Trainee Lanay Jones was observed passing food to an inmate. The inmate was searched, and contraband was found and confiscated.
Jones refused to give a statement and resigned her position with ADOC.
On October 2, Jones was arrested at her residence in Enterprise and transported to the Barbour County
Sherriff’s Office where she was charged with third-degree promoting prison contraband.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
