Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
September is more than halfway done; we’ve had some cool mornings, but still hot days without rain. So, fall is not here yet.
However, I just returned from a trip to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. We really enjoyed the cooler weather up there.
When we were out and about, many people had on long sleeves or jackets, guess they weren’t used to our hot temperatures so weather in the upper 60s was great to us. It was a great trip; a few leaves were turning, but probably be better in the next couple of weeks.
Congratulations to the Central Cougar football team on their first win last week. Hope the trend continues. They play Ranburne at home tonight, so come out and support our county football program.
Don’t forget that the Old Rock Jail is now open on Sundays from 2 to 4. The last Sunday open this year will be on October 26. Entrance fee is $3 per adult, cash only. So, if you have never visited, this is your opportunity.
If you haven’t visited Kelly’s Crossroads deli you have missed some great food. They are continuing to add things to their menu so even if you have stopped in before, there’s probably something new to try.
They serve breakfast in the mornings till they run out, then sandwiches and salads until close, Monday–Saturday. While they are open on Sunday afternoons the deli is closed. In addition to food, they have snack items, ice and propane tanks to rent.
My Bible verse this week is about blessings and happiness. My daughter was in an accident this week, so I was truly blessed that she escaped with only bruises and scratches. It could have been much worse.
This had been my mom’s car and would have been hers for years yet, so, while the sentimental value can’t be replaced, the physical car can. Again, so thankful for God sparing my daughter’s life.
I could continue to name blessings with safe travels, fun times, etc. just in this last week. But my family is the greatest blessing I have and their support in all I do.
Psalms 28:7 reads “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”
I know whatever happens, God is with me. I pray for His guidance daily in all that I do. Does that mean I always follow? Sadly, no. I am only human as each of us are.
We face temptations daily; Satan tries the Christian with all his might. There has been so much tragedy and senseless loss of lives in the world this past week; however, our trust in God will help us face anything we encounter.
This verse reminds us that we have a solid anchor in God, and our true power comes from Him. So, pray daily, rejoice in what you have and give thanks to God each day for your life and all it encompasses.
Be in prayer for the ones that have lost a loved one and that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
