Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
The Providence Baptist Church’s 2nd Annual Fishing Tournament was a great success. There were 25 boats, which was an increase from last year.
We were able to pay out to fifth place, as well as “big fish.” The volunteers had a great time of fellowship and eating. BBQ sandwiches were provided for all participants at weigh-in.
Providence Baptist Church had a great revival with evangelist Bro. Tony Christianson from Chilton County. We are in the planning stages of a couple of events with more details as plans are finalized.
Richville and my class of 1969 have lost two members in the last couple of weeks, Randy Stroud and Danny Bush. Both were classmates when we were at Richville, then graduated together from Coosa County High School in Rockford.
They will both be missed in the community. Prayers for their families.
Continuing with Bible verses about happiness, Psalms 37:8-11 read, “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.”
These verses tell us not to let anger get the best of you. It will rob you of your happiness because an angry person cannot be happy. Being enraged over the unfairness of life only hurts you, leading to evil thoughts and sometimes actions.
Blaming others or putting the fault on them doesn’t hurt them; most times they don’t even know it, and if they do, they don’t care.
Being meek isn’t bad! It’s allowing God to have control of your life, giving you the peace that those that are not believers don’t have. That’s not to say that non-believers are not happy, but their happiness is of the world and won’t last.
Christians have the eternal peace that they can never have. No matter what happens to us here on earth, we are promised an eternal life of happiness with God in heaven.
Be in prayer for the ones that have lost a loved one and that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
