A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:54 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, has claimed the life of a Jemison man.
Reymon Antonio Figueroa-Hernandez, 36, was critically injured when the 2008 Honda Accord he was driving was struck by the 1998 Toyota Tacoma driven by Ashley M. Friday, 49, of Clanton.
Figueroa-Hernandez was transported to the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for medical treatment. Friday was injured and was also transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.
On Friday, July 18, Figueroa-Hernandez succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 228-mile marker, within the Calera city limits, in Shelby County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
