An Alpine man was arrested on a controlled substance charge following a traffic stop.
On July 1, Deputy Moeser received a call about a reckless driver and was given a description of the vehicle. Upon locating the vehicle in question, Moeser observed erratic driving.
He proceeded to conduct a traffic stop and made conduct with the driver, who had slurred and slow speech.
Deputy Payton also arrived on the scene, and the deputies conducted a field sobriety test. They then asked for consent to search the vehicle.
That search resulted in deputies finding a bottle of Xanax pills, which are a controlled substance, without a prescription.
The driver, 46-year-old Dexter Lamont Keith, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Keith’s total bond was set at $7,000. He was released on bond the same day to await trial.
