Blessings are all around us, and we don’t see them because we are too wrapped up with things that are not important to us and things we cannot control. Se we lose focus on the blessings.
I was blessed a few Saturdays ago at the Abraham’s Seed Ministries 2025 annual Healing and Deliverance Conference held at Rockford First Baptist Church, where Pastor Stanford Benson is overseer. The subject was “It’s Praying Time,” II Chronicles 7:13-14. Oh my, it was praying time! These ladies prayed like it was the end of time and to get it right.
This is what we all must do now, pray, and not just preachers. We all are in need of prayer and need to pray for one another and stop shaking your heads and not coming to the altar. One day every knee will bow, whether your knees are hurting or not (written with a chuckle).
The service began with Sis. Sue Ridley and company blowing the shofars. The opening prayer, welcome, blessing of the conference, and holy communion were set in order. Praise and worship were done by the anointed couple Bro. Anthony and Sis. Sheryl Borden. Word of God spoken by Dr. Frankie Cousin, founder/teacher with Abraham’s Seed Ministries, was well done. Intercessory prayer for peace in nations, our country and communities were well done by Minister Melanie Ervin-Norris.
Intercessory prayer for youth and children was done by young Sis. Alex Jones. She did a great job blessing the young and old. Minister Sandra Lowery outdid herself, and the Holy Spirit took over praying for bereaved, forgiveness and reconciliation. Intercessory prayer for healing (physical, mental, spiritual) and salvation by Minister LaEbbonie Russell, and for all men. Her prayer took care of everyone, which was so needed!
First Baptist’s Praise Dance Team was awesome. Those youngsters did a wonderful job dancing for the Lord. Little 8-year-old Kelseigh Sims practiced one time before the show and danced like a superstar. She loves God, and she loves dancing.
She went on a trip to Paris with her mom and stole the show at a concert/recital. She did not know Paris, and Paris did not know her. However, they learned each other very fast. They will see each other again, maybe next year. That’s my Princess, I call her, and she is a princess.
Another blessing for me and my friend/sister Frankie, her youngest granddaughter, Ava Cousin, graduated from Lawrence North High School with a 4.7 grade point average. In the fall she will attend St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Ind., on a flag football scholarship. Ava played basketball in high school and was one of the best. I wish I could show you a photo of how she jumps. When her grandmother and I say to her, “Jump, Ava,” she says, “How high?” Congratulations, Ava! We love you!
Happy birthday to the youngest sweetest lady living in the Kellyton area, Mrs. Irene Beasley, who turned 104 years young June 23. I missed her call this year and was sorry. She usually calls me once in a while to chat.
I actually owe her a call – sorry, Mrs. Beasley. I guess I am getting old. You always kept me young when I talked to you.
Prayer list: Our country, Lady Mandy Hill and her family and my nephew Corey.
I miss so many loved ones who have gone on to glory – my mom; daughter, Janice; my sisters and brothers; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Scarbrough. I miss talking to Mrs. Jo about everything. Wow, I get sad when I think she is not here.
