Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
The Union Square community truly misses Kenny Shaw, the best watch neighbor ever! Yes he is out of sight, but still in sight. He is laid to rest in Union Church Cemetery, still watching over the Square, especially the Neighborhood Watch meetings, still in charge, guiding Secretary Sherry and President Johnny, who are doing a great job, and Kenny would not have it any other way.
We thank him for spearheading the Neighborhood Watch. It has been a blessing. However, missing Pat Windsor and Aaron Riggins took a toll on us, but they are helping Kenny watch over us. Oh, we also truly miss President Steve Baker, a great, smart businessman of the Square.
Butch and I are still doing our part, riding through the Square, looking out for neighbors’ well beings. However, no one else can fit Kenny’s shoes. We thank our law enforcement, former Sheriff Terry Wilson and present Sheriff Michael Howell and his staff and the best clean-up, look-out man and his staff, Mr. Brian Walker.
Union Square Neighborhood Watch is worth it all, and to live in a community with people who care and love each other, even giving fresh vegetables from their garden. Thomas and Joyce Taylor gave us the cleanest, prettiest, best tasting squash, and we won’t forget Lee and Melissa Brown with their greens every year. Thank all of you for making Union Square a happy place to be.
The world is at war with Satan. It is time for us Christians to use our weapons God gave us and fight. Some of us are too lazy. Get up and fight. Pray and use the whole armor of God, and we Christians know what they are.
Too much evil and sickness going on, and God holds us Christians responsible to do our job! However, He doesn’t force us. II Chronicles 7:14 reads, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Our land is in need of a healing! We Christians need a strong, praying relationship with God, in other words, an intimate relationship with Him! Sister Ava Burton stressed and clarified that fact. An intimate relationship is very deep. Let’s get deep, Christians, and stop playing church and playing with God.
He is speaking with us in so many ways, and we are putting cotton in our ears because the truth gives us an earache. Thank God my ears are always open to hear the truth, whether I believe it or not (LOL).
You know sometimes our truth doesn’t always fit the real truth until we can see it, like Thomas in the Bible. He wanted his eyes to show him and his ears not to listen.
Happy birthday to Joseph Carden, Union Square’s Lady of the Year Mrs. Lynne Taylor and all June babies.
Prayer list: Madison Hill, Lady Mandy Hill, Larry Carden, Pastor Chris Hill, and all sick loved ones.
