Special to the News
As part of the Goodwater Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, an award-winning author visited the library last week to read to area youth.
On June 10, Negrita Smart of Dadeville visited the library as a special guest reader. The event was a success with children from the Goodwater Boys and Girls Club and other youth from the community in attendance.
Smart, a children’s book author, is the author of “Grace and the Golden Rule,” “Grace Loves her Neighbor,” “Grace and the Power of Prayer,” and “Putting God First.” As a recipient of the BookFest Awards, “Grace Loves her Neighbor” and “Grace and the Golden Rule” have been displayed in Times Square on the Nasdaq and “I Love NY!” billboards in recognition of outstanding works of fiction.
Smart is in the process of developing a children’s book series for a new character, Daniel.
An active member of the New Covenant Ministries of the World Inc., Smart is driven to share life lessons through story telling and relatable characters.
“As an author, I’m thrilled to be part of this year’s Summer Reading Program, which plays such a vital role in keeping the love of reading alive when school is out,” Smart said about her experience with Goodwater Library. “Books have the power to open new worlds, spark curiosity and change lives. Programs like this remind us that reading is not just educational – it’s a lifelong adventure. I always look forward to engaging with readers, answering their questions and sharing lessons that will have a lasting impact.”
