Special to the News
By Dr. Shannon Davis, director Coosa County Extension Office
The school bell rings. The piercing sound echoing through the halls represents the last bell of the year as students and teachers alike anticipate the summer season which is now upon them.
For many students the season is characterized by long, carefree summer days filled with playtime and fun with their friends. For others, including our Coosa County 4-H members, summer is about a time
honored tradition of attending 4-H summer camp.
This year, Coosa campers will be attending summer camp at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana from June 16-18.
The camp mission includes instilling the 4-H values of Head, Heart, Hands, and Health through belonging, independence, generosity, and mastery in the lives of all who come to camp. Campers will be engaged in team-building activities, outdoor adventures, nature hikes, and other 4-H ceremonies.
The Coosa County Extension office would like extend a huge thank-you to the Catchings and Wingard families for sponsoring the winners of the 2025 4-H camp scholarship essay competition. It is through the generosity and kindness of these families that Coosa youth get to be part of this time honored tradition. Thank you!
