ALEA, ADOC make contraband arrest at Elmore annex

On Wednesday, April 23, correctional officers at the Elmore Correctional Facility Annex observed an individual throw a package over the fence.
With the assistance of ADOC Communications, Alabama State Troopers apprehended the suspect. Duonta Lanier was arrested, transported to the Elmore Detention Facility, and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking synthetic narcotics, trafficking oxycodone, first-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
This arrest was a collaborative effort of ADOC correctional officers, K-9 and Narcotics units, and the Alabama State Troopers.
Lanier is being held on a $4,516,000 bond.
The recovered package contained approximately:
- 99 grams of ecstasy
- 188 grams of methamphetamine
- 337 grams of marijuana
- 52 grams of sprayed paper
- 1 set of digital scales
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
