Special to the News
There were two beautiful days at the ball fields as the Central High School students and Central Elementary School students had the opportunity to enjoy a Central softball game and Central baseball game respectively.
Students also had the opportunity to enjoy food from the Cougar Cafe thanks to the hard work of the Diamond Dolls. Thank you, also, to Board of Education members Jenny Kimbrell and Tiffany McCain for volunteering to cook the fries, hot dogs and hamburgers for the Cougar Cafe at the baseball game. Thank you to PTO president, Maressa Ware, for providing pictures.
The Central Cougars defeated Talladega 10-3 as they hosted the elementary students at the ballfield.
Bryant Wickersham drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Cougars past Talladega. Wickersham singled in the first, scoring two; singled in the third, scoring one; and singled in the fifth, scoring one.
Cougars got on the board in the first inning after Wickersham singled, scoring two runs.
Cougars added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Riley Humphrey doubled, scoring one run; Franklin singled, scoring two runs; and Wickersham singled, scoring one run.
