A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:58 p.m. Friday, February 14, has claimed the life of an Opelika man.
Austin K. Jordan, 31, was fatally injured when the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned before catching on fire and becoming engulfed in flames. Jordan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 29 near the 197-mile marker, approximately seven miles north of Opelika, in Lee County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol continue to investigate.
