Jacario Montez Kelly

A Goodwater man was arrested on four charges, including assaulting a police officer, from two agencies last Saturday.
On February 8, Goodwater Police Department received a call for a domestic dispute in progress on Alabama Highway 9 in the Goodwater town limits.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that Deputy Dawson responded to the same call for backup for the Goodwater police officer.
Hammond stated that while the Goodwater officer was waiting on backup, the individual became irate and unruly. Upon Dawson’s arrival, the man became even more irate.
With both officers on the scene, the man eventually became combative. While the Goodwater officer attempted to handcuff him, he began resisting arrest.
Hammond said that a scuffle broke out between the subject and the two officers. While Dawson was attempting to use his taser, the individual grabbed it during the scuffle and deployed it on the Goodwater officer.
After struggling with the subject, additional backup arrived on the scene, and he was eventually placed in handcuffs.
This culminated in 36-year-old Jacario Montez Kelly being arrested by Goodwater Police Department on charges of third-degree domestic violence and resisting arrest.
Further, Kelly was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on two felony charges for second-degree assault to an officer and disarming a law enforcement officer.
Kelly’s total bond for the two county charges was set at $30,000. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail waiting trial.
