I think we need to send “Sean of the South” a newspaper. His column last week made him sound like a newsprint addict. But he writes a column syndicated for rural newspapers. Maybe he just likes to see his work in print. So do I.
I think we need to send everyone in the statehouse a newspaper to raise our profile. And the governor. Community journalism is a precious thing.
There is talk of ending the requirement that legal notices appear in print. Bad idea. Legal notices already appear in the newspaper’s online edition and are uploaded to some central government website that contains all legal notices. Where is that, and how do we find what might apply to us?
The internet is a virtual overwhelming tsunami of information. Many of us let most of it wash over out of necessity. Many people don’t have regular access to computers, or the desire for such. Yet our legal system requires the publication of certain events, cases, projects…
This is why we have a talented editor and manager that focus our relevant notices in our community NEWS. Legal notices are a big part of their job and a big portion of their support.
I think our readers and fans need to send their used newspapers to the Statehouse. Or perhaps a note to their representatives on our behalf.
