A former employee with the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office was arrested last month on child abuse-related charges.
Sheriff Michael Howell said that his office had received allegations regarding child abuse that involved one of his employees. As such, he contacted Chilton County Sheriff’s Office as an outside agency to investigate the allegations.
The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office investigation culminated in obtaining warrants for the arrest of Jacqueline Sue Nemith.
On December 18, Nemith, 40 years old of Rockford, was arrested on five charges. Those included two counts of willful child abuse, two counts of third-degree domestic violence – assault and one count of domestic violence – strangulation.
Nemith’s total bond for all five charges was set at $70,000. She has since been released on bond to await trial.
