A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Monday, November 25, has claimed two lives.
The driver; William Mathews, 65, of Sylacauga; and Annette R. Mathews, 64, also of Sylacauga, were both fatally injured when the 2006 Ford F750 dump truck they were in overturned, left the roadway, then struck a guardrail before going down an embankment.
Neither William nor Annette were using seat belts at the time of the crash and were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 280 near the 59-mile marker, approximately two miles west of Kellyton, in Coosa County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
