Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Words can’t express how all the devastation from Hurricane Helene makes me feel. I have been to many of the places in the Carolinas, and it’s so sad to see entire communities gone.
They will be forever changed; some things will be irreplaceable. Please be in prayer for the ones that have lost family, as well as those that have lost their homes and businesses. Fall in the mountains around Asheville, N.C., will forever be changed.
Students are out of school today for teacher professional development, so the football game was last night.
Next week will be homecoming. Central will face Lanett High School with kick-off at 7 p.m. Pre-game begins at 6:20 p.m. with the band performing, as well as the crowning of the Central Elementary School Queen. During the halftime, the Central High School King and Queen will be crowned, as well as fireworks.
My granddaughter Bailey and her husband, Alex, have been here from Twentynine Palms, California, where he is stationed. He’s in the Marines and about to be deployed for six months, so they allow them a couple of weeks leave before they deploy. While they have been here, we have had several family gatherings. It’s been great to see them, but always sad to see them leave. They will be leaving to drive back today.
The next Richville Volunteer Fire Department Bingo will be on Saturday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendar and make plans to attend.
Sardis Baptist Church will have its Fall Festival on Sunday, October 27, beginning at 4 p.m. They will have games, food, cake walks, and hayrides. This is a free event with fun for every age. All are welcome.
My Bible verse this week is about recovery. Psalm 18:2 reads, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
No matter how tough life gets, God is there with us. He doesn’t prevent us from having problems, but He helps us endure them. This verse reminds us that while we may be lacking in strength, God is there for us to lean on.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
