The Goodwater Volunteer Fire Department and EMS is now once again a licensed paramedic transport service.
Through the work of Fire Chief Elmore Unbehant and EMS Captain Brian Ward, Goodwater VFD has met the necessary licensing requirements set forth by the state to provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support to residents and visitors of Coosa County.
This step now makes all three ambulance services in Coosa County ALS1 services. ALS, or Advanced Life Support, level 1 means that the ambulance service not only provides medically necessary supplies and services, but also either an ALS assessment or an ALS intervention if needed.
“This has been possible through a great deal of effort on the part of Capt. Ward,” Unbehant said. “This means that now all three services in the county are ALS1 transport services. Being able to provide this level of care as a volunteer service speaks volumes to the dedication and care provided by those that work extra hard to make sure the community has the service and support it needs. We are thankful for Capt. Ward for working on this and making it a reality.”
