Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
It is hard to believe August is halfway over. Labor Day is coming, then fall. I think everyone will be ready for some cooler weather.
It’s so good to hear about all the volunteers that have been working around the school. We need to support the teachers and staff regardless of where you live. This is our school for the entire county, not just one area. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with just a few; imagine if more people committed to helping.
Bingo is this Saturday, August 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Richville Volunteer Fire Department. Everyone is welcome, so come join the fun and games. They also have concessions available.
They have also begun selling tickets for their Labor Day Boston Butt Sale. They are $35 with pickup on Saturday morning, September 3, from 7 to 9. Usually they have a few extra to sell, but this year because of increased costs they will only have what they pre-sold available. So, if you want one, then see a member of the fire department. They are delicious. So, make plans to attend bingo and buy your ticket for the sale.
Union Baptist Church is having revival August 21-24 with Brother Jay Penton as the evangelist. There will be special music each night. Services on Sunday begin at 6 p.m., and Monday–Wednesday they start at 7 p.m. Everyone’s welcome!
So, the scripture passage for this week is Jeremiah 33:3, which reads, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Jeremiah was in prison during this time. However, he was still hearing and speaking God’s message regardless of what happened to him. False prophets were more popular, but Jeremiah continued to preach the truth about the wickedness of the time. God gave him a word of hope, just as He gives us hope today.
What a wonderful promise to us that God will answer us when we call on Him. We need to learn to listen for His answer, which is not always what we want to hear. He knows all; we just have to trust Him and let Him lead us.
Continue to keep those who have lost loved ones recently in your prayers. There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
