Last month members of the Coosa County 4-H Horse Club competed in the state 4-H Hippology and Quizbowl events at Auburn.
Allie Reams, Matney Sadler and Allison Odom prepared for the event by attending the 4-H Horse Club each month, studying on their own and attending a day camp hosted by Chilton County’s 4-H Horse Club.
The team placed second in Hippology and third in Quizbowl.
“This was their first year to compete in this event,” said Janet Lovelady, 4-H Foundation Regional Extension agent. “This is an outstanding result for the new team!”
Allie Reams and Matney Sadler also earned individual awards at the event.
Earlier in the season, Allie Reams and Allison Odom competed in the Senior Division of the state 4-H riding events, which were held in Montgomery.
Allie Reams earned 15 awards at the state event, including first place awards in Western Showmanship and Horsemanship and second place for her 4-H Horse Project Record Book. She was recognized as the first place Western Division Overall and the fifth place English Division Overall.
Allison Odom placed fifth in Barrels and seventh in Arena Race.
Three Junior members of the 4-H Horse Club competed in Montgomery, as well. Addison Self and Harper Self each earned placings in Arena Race, Barrels, and Poles. Jonathon Batson earned third place in Western Stock Type Pony Mares.
