A Sylacauga area woman was arrested earlier this month in connection with an arson case in the Stewartville community.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on July 8 deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of County Road 68 off of U.S. Highway 231 in Stewartville in reference to a residential fire.
Deputies conducted an investigation into the fire and determined that it was arson, concluding that someone purposefully set the house on fire.
During the investigation they made contact with 53-year-old Pamela Johnson of the Sylacauga area, who they determined was the suspect in this case.
Johnson was arrested the same day for second-degree arson. Her bond was set at $20,000, and as of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
The Sheriff’s Office also extended its gratitude to Stewartville, Weogufka and Hanover volunteer fire departments for responding to the fire.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
