Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
It’s Vacation Bible School time. Many churches are having their VBS now or soon. So, make plans to bring your children or grandchildren. I fondly remember going to VBS during the summer.
Sardis Baptist Church VBS begins on this Sunday, July 17, at 5:45 p.m. until 8 p.m. The theme is “Destination Dig: Unearthing the Truth about Jesus.” It will end on Thursday, July 21.
Providence Baptist Church will have VBS July 24-28, 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The theme is “Spark Studios: Created in Christ, Designed for God’s Purpose.”
It’s hard to believe that in less than a month school will be back in session. So, to get ready, School Tax Free weekend begins today. Plan to stock up on school supplies.
If you don’t have school-age children, grands, etc., this is a good time to stock up on your office supplies, as well as items for Samaritan Purse boxes. Some stores do not participate so check before you get to the check out line.
It’s very frustrating to get to the register and things are taxed as they ring up. I know this happened to me at Walmart during the Severe Weather Preparedness tax-free weekend. They didn’t participate!
The Coosa County Historical Society will meet on Sunday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at Twenty-Two & Crew (the old drugstore) in Rockford. We plan to show a video that was recorded around Rockford sometime in the 60s. Come out and see if you can identify some of the people.
The scripture passage I want to share this week is Psalm 121:1-2 which reads, “I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Think about how when you seek answers, we lift our eyes toward heaven. We are surrounded by the beauty of the earth which God made. Often, we are so caught up in our daily lives and routines that we forget to enjoy what we have around us. So, take time to look around and see all the beauty that God created.
Continue to keep those who have lost loved ones recently in your prayers. There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
