The Lady Cougars Varsity softball team won the Comer Classic Softball Tournament held at B.B. Comer High School March 4 and 5. The Lady Cougars softball team members are Reese Lee, Anna Casas, Brynli Mitchell, Kali Snell, Markee Goff, McKenize Cardwell, Daja Pearson, Alissa Cosby, Brynlee Hawthorne, Emmalee Whaley, Abbeie Smith, Abigail Hyatt, and Reagan Cardwell. The Lady Cougars are coached by Jesse Weeks and Chris Elliott.

Pearson’s walk-off seals deal in Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity victory over Winterboro
A walk-off single propelled Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity to a decisive dramatic victory over Winterboro, 8-7. The game was tied at seven with Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity batting in the bottom of the fourth when Daja Pearson singled on the first pitch at bat, scoring one run.
Bats blistered as Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity collected five hits and Winterboro tallied six in the high-scoring game.
Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity notched five runs in the second inning. The team put the pressure on, led by a triple by Brynli Mitchell, a single by Abagial Hyatt, a fielder’s choice by Abbeie Smith, and an error on a ball put in play by Markee Goff.
Anna Casas was credited with the victory for Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity. The pitcher went four innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out seven.
Mitchell led Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Hawthorne throws no-hitter as Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity triumphs over Talladega County Central
Brynlee Hawthorne was brilliant on the rubber on Saturday, as Hawthorne threw a no-hitter to lead Central of Coosa County Cougars Varsity past Talladega County Central 14-0.
Coosa Central Cougars Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Alissa Cosby drew a walk, scoring one run.
The Cougars Varsity notched six runs in the second inning. Cougar Varsity’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Markee Goff and Kali Snell and a groundout by Reese Lee.
Hawthorne earned the victory in the circle for the Cougars. Hawthorne went four innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking zero.
- Johnson took the loss for Talladega County Central. The bulldog surrendered 14 runs on six hits over three innings, striking out two.
Daja Pearson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Cougars in hits. Cougars Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Brynli Mitchell led the way with two.
