Wes Allen, Alabama’s secretary of state, reminds Alabama voters that county absentee election managers must receive mail-in absentee ballot applications by Tuesday, October 27.
The deadline to return an absentee ballot application in person is Thursday, October 29.
Absentee ballots being returned in person must be received by the county absentee election manager by close of business on the day before the election, November 2. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received no later than noon on Election Day, November 3.
It is recommended to mail in your absentee ballot application and absentee ballots at least two weeks before the deadline for county absentee election managers to receive them.
Under Alabama law, voters must have a qualifying reason to vote by absentee ballot. Voters are required to identify their qualifying reason on their absentee ballot application.
For the list of qualifying reasons to vote absentee, visit www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/voter/absentee-voting.
Voters are required to present a valid form of photo identification before voting at their polling place or when requesting an absentee ballot.

Coosa County’s absentee election manager is Judge of Probate Richard Dean, and he can be reached at 256-377-4919, option 1, for absentee voting information.
