Equality & Nixburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I already have an update on the new business in Equality. Big John’s Liquidation has updated operating hours.
They open Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. If you haven’t already checked out their stores this week would be a good week, and next week since their inventory is updated regularly. I have been there myself several times and found a few items, and Papa found a really cool water gun that our grandson loves.
Coosa Fancy is open for their eight-week Summer CSA, Customer Supported Agriculture, which begins July 11! For a flat rate of $120 for farm pickup, guarantee yourself a weekly taste of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, available greens, and whatever else your favorite small farm has growing in the garden! Sign up or learn more at www.coosa-fancy.com.
Coosa Fancy also has a discount available for those ready to sign up for the 10-week Fall CSA! Check out their website for options and more information!
I hope more positive changes are coming for our community and little downtown area. I would like to see another locally owned business open up, but I am happy we have what we currently have, and I hope the community supports all small businesses in the area.
Community activities that are available that you can support include:
- The Equality quilting group meets every Monday evening from 6 to 8 at Jenny’s General Store. We do more than quilt; some embroider, crochet and other needle arts. And yes, we still meet every week!
- Kendrick Memorial Baptist Church’s yard sale, held most Saturdays starting at 8 a.m. Address is 5152 Ala. Hwy. 9 in Nixburg.
- Elaine Rutledge of Nixburg hosts Rummikub at the Alexander City Senior Center in the Sportplex every Friday starting at 10 a.m.
- Equality Volunteer Fire Department will not hold their First Saturday fund raising on July 4. They will be holding their first Saturday fundraising on August 1. Please join the community in supporting our wonderful volunteers after the Independence Day holiday.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
