Pastor Stanford and Lady Dorothy Benson

Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
It’s amazing how God works. He never ceases to amaze me through all of His work, through people, animals, trees, etc., and I love it!
Butch and I were riding past Pastor Stanford Benson’s home and saw him standing across the street in his mother-in-law’s yard with family and friends enjoying life with a hand full of food. We stopped for a minute to say “hello,” and it turned into more minutes, saying hello to God.
We had church sitting in the truck and Benson standing outside the truck with a hand full of food and preaching/talking. I got so happy because of the anointed on him, I almost jumped out of the truck.
Butch was full and amazed of the Holy Spirit’s action, he turned the truck off, ready to have church. Pastor Benson is a true strong man of God. He was on fire unexpectedly, and we had some church while family and friends stayed put and heard (LOL).
It made Butch’s day. “Church on a Monday, Memorial Day.”
Speaking of the strength of
Pastor Benson, came only from God. Twenty-one years ago Benson experienced a tragedy in May that no man would want to see happen to his wife. He saw his wife helpless, pinned under a car, and today he is that strong man still preaching God’s word wherever he goes, and his strong wife, Lady Dorothy Benson, is smiling as she’s always done.
However, she is in a wheelchair, but she is still standing for God and listening to her husband preach the Word of God.
These are two strong godly people I know and love dearly like they are my family, and they are! Lady Benson’s mother, my chosen Mother Harrell I called her, was one of the strongest and sweetest ladies.
Mother and Daddy Benson were precious to me. Mother Benson loved my “praise,” and Daddy Benson never forgot me, even after many years when he didn’t see me or hear my voice.
While he was in the hospital before he passed, I went to see him. He was in a semi-coma, not speaking or saying anything to anyone. I walked over and put my hand on him to pray “with permission.” I said, “Daddy Benson, you probably don’t remember me…” and before I could tell him who I was, he said, “Yes I do, Ruby Johnson” very loudly and firm. Everyone in the room was shocked and laughed.
My daughter, Janice, said, “Ma, wow, everybody knows your big mouth.” We all laughed. I could not believe it myself.
It had an impact on me that I will never forget. People can say things to you and it means little or nothing, but how they make you feel means a lot and more.
Mother Harrell and the Bensons made me feel the real purpose of life. God has a way of life of doing things, and it’s all good.
Happy birthday to all May born.
Happy birthday to my niece Anita Patterson on June 5. Happy birthday, also, in memory of my dear and last sister, Peggy Crayton.
In memory of Mother Harrell, happy birthday of great memories June 12.
We are praying for all leaders and for kids out of school for protection as they enjoy the summer.
