Special to the News
Family, friends and faculty celebrated the graduating class of 2026 in a faith-based graduation service Sunday evening at the Weogufka Family Worship Center.
Members of the worship team, Tabitha Hyatt and Mylon Dailey, welcomed guests with worship songs. Student Government Association (SGA) member Luis Martinez emceed, and SGA president Meori Smith led the attendees in the invocation and “Pledge of Allegiance.”
Thank you to Pastor Tommy Thornton for delivering a message of encouragement to our seniors as they prepare to enter the next season in their life.
Senior Alyssa Woodfin, accompanied by Bailey Childress, sang “Humble and Kind” followed by the presentation “Class of 2026: Then and Now,” which included pictures submitted by seniors from their childhood and formal senior tux and drape pictures, which brought both tears and cheers.
SGA president Meori Smith provided the closing remarks and benediction before attendees made their way to the fellowship hall to enjoy refreshments and fellowship.
Thank you, also, to Jason Roberts for providing audio visual services and SGA members Bailey Childress, Vince Grogan and Lily Howell, led by Luis Martinez, for their volunteer service to make the event possible.
The excitement and tears of the coming week were starting to mount as we got a first official look at the seniors in their caps and gowns.
