Special to the News
Ed’s on Main in Goodwater and the Weogufka Family Worship Center were the sites for the first two of three community literacy events sponsored by Literacy Everywhere!
The literacy skill that is the focus of the events is reading aloud. Mrs. Masters modeled reading with expression by reading the book “Dog Breath” by Dav Pilkey. Students and adults then participated in a STEM connection activity based on the book.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Ed’s in Goodwater and Chick-fil-A in Weogufka. Finally, students were able to take as many books as they liked for their home libraries. The best part of all, everything was at no cost to families.
There was one more community literacy event held in Rockford on April 30 at LeeBoys BBQ.
