A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Pennsylvania woman last Wednesday on a drug-related charge.
According to Chief Deputy Scott Hammond, on March 25, Deputy Kelley was on routine patrol on U.S. Highway 280 when he noticed a vehicle he had previously come in contact with and identified the driver as Allen Barefield, who had previous drug charges.
Because of their prior interaction, Kelley initiated a traffic stop. He asked the driver, Barefield, if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, and Barefield gave consent for Kelley to search the vehicle.
Another individual was also in the vehicle that Kelley did a roadside investigation with, Hammond reported.
After asking them to exit the vehicle for him to conduct the search, the passenger dropped her purse, which had a controlled substance in it.
Kristin Noel Kehrli; 42 years old, of Scranton, Penn.; was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Barefield was given a citation and released.
Kehrli’s bond was set at $5,000, and she was released on bond March 30 to await trial.
