We are happy to have our very own Lydia back. We missed her deeply.
It was a long journey for her, longer than we thought. We thought her journey was in the states; however, she went out of the country, but we welcome her home today.
I have experienced sadness, hurt and pain in a different way lately. My feelings are being exposed in an angry way, and I am not ashamed to express my feelings truthfully.
Yes, I am hurt and angry. Jesus spoke of being angry, but He didn’t sin, and that’s my motive. I won’t sin either, although I am angry.
I lost a very dear friend, a chosen daughter, and a prayer partner, as well; Vickie Scott, who called me “Aunt Ruby,” and no one informed me of her death until much later. I tried to reach her, as I was under the weather and at the emergency room, but could not because of her phone issues. I called someone, and they said they thought I knew, and that’s why they didn’t call me.
Some said, “It was on Facebook.” Well, that’s another story, and I will end my madness and turn it into joy, remembering the joy Vickie and I shared, praying, laughing, eating candy together, and now knowing she and my daughter, Janice, can have fun once again.
I pray for the families. I miss those phone calls, praying for each other. I honor Vickie Scott today in this month of Women’s History Month for her strength, faith and love.
Other strong women and great teachers: my first teachers, Mrs. Mary Sue Porter-Hale, Mrs. Sarah Adams and Mrs. Essie Carter. Others are Mrs. Martha Rittmann, Mrs. Sheryl Borden, Minister Joann Shealey, Mrs. Susan Wilson of Union Square, and many others.
I want to give a big “shout out” to Courtney Carden for being who she is, with much love in her heart and great church value for one another, and not only in church, but wherever you see and meet her, that “love” pops out. We love you, Courtney.
Some weeks ago we had the pleasure of hearing Pastor Grady Cook Jr. of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Titus preach an awesome message at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Equality, where Pastor Jesse Blackmon is overseer, for a Men’s Day celebration.
Pastor Cook is some powerful young preacher. He preached about standing fast in the faith and being strong. “Be a Courageous Soldier” was his topic.
He said there are some things we should not do because of our faith. We must make up our own minds to stay on the battlefield. Be on guard and always be watchful. Everybody in the church is not in the church. What an awesome service.
Let’s pray for our country without ceasing.
Happy birthday to all March born.
