Pastor Stanford and Lady Dorothy Benson with guest speaker Pastor Nathaniel and Lady Holloway at the celebration of 33 years of Benson pastoring at First Baptist.
Congratulations to Union Square’s Sherry Shaw on her forever first-place winning on the World of Wheels car show in Birmingham the weekend of January 30, and also happy belated birthday to her on the last of February.
Sorry, I am late on everything lately. I have been under the weather, death in the family, etc. But it’s all good, I am feeling better.
I have been thinking of you, Ms. Debra Lamberth. You are in my heart with prayers, knowing you got this. You have done a tremendous job for years, and you cannot stop now. Union Square loves you!
Losing another loved one hurts, and it doesn’t get easier. My niece Corene Hill was laid to rest, and I am sad. However, when Pastor Benson did the eulogy, preaching from I Samuel 20:3, “One Step Away,” I got joy because of the Word of God.
When you get the Word in you and hide it in your heart, joy comes in the morning, and “joy” continued to come days afterward when I heard Pastor Nathaniel Holloway of Rocky Mount M.B.C. in Alexander City preaching Pastor Stanford Benson’s 33 years of pastoring at First Baptist Church in Rockford.
Holloway preached from many books, Matthew, Romans, etc., and explained every subject he brought forward.
There is power from the Word. The Bible is your title, and you do not have to walk around saying, “I am this; I am that.” Just read your Bible and live by faith. Your work and action will speak for itself.
This man of God truly broke it down and blessed the church. Pastor Benson chose the right person for his great celebration.
He and Lady Benson looked like king and queen of the season. The food was excellent, as well as the decoration and display by Deaconess Ava Burton.
Burton does a great job when there is an event at the church. She is a great missionary for Coosa County and others. It was a great celebration of 33 years.
Children’s Corner
My 7-year-old great-great-nephew Kyrie Harrell blessed me at the celebration. We were talking about birthdays, and I said I have one coming up soon, and Kyrie looked at me and said, “Aunt Ruby, even you got gray hair, you don’t look like you are 77.” I said, “No, honey, 79.” He ran and told someone and kept looking at me.
I don’t know where he got 77, and how does he know how a 77-year-old lady or 79 is suppose to look? Everyone laughed at him, but he was still in awe. I love that kid. He is a smart little boy.
He asked us so many questions. He asked how long has Jesus been dead and questions about animals – why do people kill animals, etc. That’s my boy. I would love to keep him.
Happy birthday to Pastor Bobby Montgomery and all March babies.
Prayer list: Bessie Leonard, Ola Mae Riggins, Kim Hill, and all school teachers.
“Tim, God and love are linked together.”
Jesus said, “Anyone who isn’t helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.” – Luke 11:23
