This week of Women’s History Month I want to acknowledge some strong, powerful women of Coosa County who have made a mark in their community and others, deceased ones and live ones.
I will just mention their names. I don’t have much time to share it all; also, I am a little under the weather. However, these ladies deserve much more than name calling: Mrs. Laverne Harmon, Mrs. Annie Leonard, Mrs. Pat Windsor, Mrs. Jo Scarbrough, Lady Dorothy Benson, Mrs. Joetta Maxwell, Mrs. Mamie Maxwell, Lady Tina Fuller, Ms. Janice Johnson, Mrs. Beatrice Johnson, Mrs. Joyce Taylor, Mrs. C.K. May, Mrs. LeVelma Simmons, Ms. Chat Lee, Mrs. Melissa Brown, and others.
These are just a few of them, including Mrs. Nellie Ferguson. Last but not least, Ms. Christa Jennings of “The Coosa County News” has been elected to join the Alabama Press Association’s Board.
We are so very proud of Christa. She has done much more for Coosa County than one can imagine, and critics are on the sideline booing her. However, the majority on the sideline are saying, “Way to go.”
Congratulations to Christa, and keep moving up the ladder!
Our Kobe and Smokey are the best furbabies there is. People underestimate dogs and cats, but more so cats. Kobe looks out for me and Butch greatly, but Smokey does so differently and so smart.
Kobe is wild, and Smokey is so cool. When I hang out clothes he follows me and is real laid back. I tell Butch that Smokey is like his brother, Mike, who gave him to us. Believe me, pets are like their masters; just watch them! Mike was a very laid back man.
