Butch and I enjoyed a great Pastor Appreciation for Bishop Eddie L. Edwards at the Greater Works Outreach Ministry in Wetumpka with guest speaker Pastor James O. Blackmon of Harper Springs Baptist Church in Sylacauga.
His subject was “In This Ministry,” preaching from II Corinthians 4:1. This ministry is all about Jesus. The power of this ministry is not about the preacher. The power and the purpose of this ministry is preaching the Word.
You learn how to pray in this ministry, unfold the God and teach the saints of God to be servants. Sanctification is learned in this ministry, as well as the importance of this whole ministry, etc.
Pastor Blackmon also spoke of Bishop’s life story as a minister. Blackmon said he was 19 years old when he got filled with the Holy Ghost under this ministry, with the teaching of this man of God, and many other preachers and pastors were taught in this ministry. You would be surprised to know.
However, Pastor Blackmon came straight through the door with the truth of Edwards, and I know for a fact it’s the truth. I grew up with him as neighbors/family. He is some years younger, but I saw a special gift in him as a young boy. He is a kind and humble person. You cannot help but love and respect him.
Pastor Blackmon did an awesome job, and his youth choir sang so beautifully. It was one of the greatest pastor’s appreciations we have ever attended. My Butch was in awe. He said Black people are so inspiring in his walk with God, their worship, their singing, etc. He was so refreshed. It made his evening bright.
Bishop Edwards and I share a birthday this month in March. Happy birthday to him, and wishes for many more blessed ones to come.
Happy birthday wishes also go out to Kayla Shone and Damond Hill.
The month of March is also Women’s History Month, which is celebrated annually in March in the United States and others. It started in 1978 in California to honor some achievements of women, was declared in 1980 by President Carter and expanded to a month by Congress in 1987, becoming an annual presidential proclamation honoring women’s contributions, like Jeannette Rankin becoming the first female Congress member in 1917.
“Congress plays a big part for actions,” and leaders need to take heed to the fact. I had to squeeze that in. haha
Back to Women’s History, I must give Bishop Edwards’s lovely wife the honor she deserves in this Women’s History Month and always. A true woman of God for many years, Lady Kathleen works diligently in this ministry of God. She is the president emeritus of the Early Rose District Women’s Auxiliary and president emeritus of the North East District State Women’s Auxiliary, as well as much more for God’s Kingdom.
She is kind and humble like her husband. She is beautiful, outside and inside, always willing to help bring someone where they belong in Christ.
